Jamie Pennell
Jamie Pennell has been a School Social Worker with Knox County Schools since 2017 and brings over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Her background includes work in a variety of settings—outdoor therapeutic programs, in-home services, case management, crisis intervention, and program leadership.
Before joining Knox County Schools, Jamie managed a walk-in crisis center and served as the director of a day treatment program that combined therapy and academics to support students’ emotional and educational growth.
Jamie holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee with a graduate certificate in Trauma-Informed Treatment and School Social Work. She also holds a Master's in Training and Development from Northern Michigan University with a certificate in performance improvement.
In her role as a School Social Worker, Jamie partners with students, families, and staff to promote student success and well-being. She can assist with attendance concerns, mental health support, family resources, and connecting families to community services.
Jamie is passionate about helping students feel safe, supported, and capable of achieving their goals—both in and out of the classroom.
